Kingdom of Patina
Located in the south of the continent of Tarim, the kingdom of Patina covers a large valley that nests in between two mountain ranges. Although one of the larger kingdoms, Patina itself has very little usable land. Majority of it is covered by rocky outcroppings, scorching deserts, and the twin mountain ranges. Majority of the kingdom’s farmland is located to the north and south of the central valley.
The southern end of Patina houses majority of it’s agricultural villages. Despite being on the coast, few of these villages support any water craft larger than a fishing boat, as the coast is covered in razor sharp reefs that the locals call “Leviathan teeth”. Rumors say that tribes of amphibious creatures inhabit the swamps and coastal regions of the south end of Patina. The area’s largest population center is fort Ashenvale.
The central valley is cradled between the twin mountain ranges. Majority of the valley is a vast and arid wasteland, ill suited for maintaining life. However, this is where Patina gets it’s prime export from. Copper. Copper, along with other minerals and ores, are mined out of the mountain ranges in great abundance here, and from here are shipped all across Patina from the central regions largest population center. The Town of Waypoint.
The northern region mostly concern themselves with utilizing what little farmland they have and with politics, overseeing the trade done from Waypoint, and acting as a shield wall between the rest of the world, and the rest of Patina. The largest population center is the nations’ capital, the city of Verdigris.
Government and culture
Although possessing a human centric population, Patina is largely unprejudiced towards other races. This comes as a large surprise to outsiders, simply because an average citizen of this kingdom has little contact of non humans. Though not hateful of non humans, the citizens of Patina have little in the way of knowledge with regards to other cultures, therefore most outsiders believe them to be a large group of mining and farming hicks.
Patina is ruled by Queen Victoria Themascura the second. She only recently gained the power after her mother, Queen Victoria Themascura the first, was killed in combat with a dragon.
The current Queens’ policies differ greatly from those of her mother and predecessor. Patina is now more open, and focused on mercantilism and reshaping it’s defense force, rather than attempting to gain territory from the middle kingdoms.
